Uruguayan painter-sculptor Ignacio Iturrias works draw from a rich historical stew: repressive military juntas, Daliesque surrealism, pre-Columbian art and traditional Peruvian weavings are some influences he uses with a deliberate simplicity reminiscent of folk art. The result is a human iconography of the Americas, with stick figures trapped in the brutal concrete common in urban slums. A true artists book, with a corrugated cardboard cover, and a handmade feel.
